Morningstar: How to get more from the US stock surge

A surge in US stocks, the S&P 500 breaking though the psychologically important 2000 barrier, and investors are looking at ways to get more from equities. Morningstar research has been looking at a fund which might just give the best exposure to the US stock markets.

Equity analyst Mike Rawson says "Vanguard Total Stock Market (VTI) is the quintessential U.S. equity fund. No other fund is as efficiently managed or offers such broad diversification to the U.S. stock market. By investing in every U.S.-listed security in proportion to its market capitalization, the fund gets close to the ideal market portfolio."
