The forbidden currency: when will the RMB go global?

As business leaders gather in Eastern China for a conference known as the summer Davos, the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang is there to try to explain why China will avoid a hard landing as it shifts from making cheap exports to a consumer driven economy. As China embraces more market reforms the question remains; what about its currency? Will we ever see the RMB free floating, a fully fledged international trade-able currency?

Pauline Loong from Asia-analytica Research explains why she thinks that the timetable for seeing the Yuan floating on international currency markets will take years longer than the 2015 date often quoted as a possible launch date for the RMB to take on the world.
