With the 2014 trading year coming to an end, we at
TradingFloor.com are taking a moment to reflect on the highs and lows from the
past year.
Steve Lucas from 3c Analysis recalls his decision to sell
all of his long positions in the equities market right before a small
correction in the market as his best trade of 2014. Divergence in the markets
and low oil prices had forecasted the quick sell-off according to Steve. He was
able to reinstate his long positions ahead of a strong reversal higher to
record highs. All of Steve’s trades were not so lucky, as he recalls the poor choice
to call a top in EURUSD in September. A bad retail sales figure had spooked the
market and raised the concerns of the US Federal Reserve to have to extend its quantitative
easing program.
