Focus on the financials as earnings seasons starts

The focus will be on the financials as this earnings season offers increased volatility and a forward view of 2015. JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup and Bank of America all have Q4 2014 earnings updates in the next few days and it's the time of year when banks will be announcing one-off impairments and write-downs. Expect extra volatility as investors get spooked by some of the negative headlines but overall this will be a positive season according to Peter Garnry, Head of Equity Strategy at Saxo Bank.
