Beecroft: My sterling strategy and why I think the FTSE can hit 8000

Chairman of Saxo Capital Markets Nick Beecroft brings us his regular update from London. Despite better than expected February retail sales figures up 0.7% month-on-month, sterling failed to establish a convincing stronger position. Nick talks us through his trading strategy for sterling and why he believes in his bold claim that the FTSE 100 will hit 8000 before the end of the year.

The FTSE smashed through the 7000 barrier for the first time in its history last week and Nick argues that European and Japanese QE can provide the extra push for the leading UK index to go even further.

UK markets are now prepared for a period of uncertainty ahead of the General Election due to be held on May the 7th.
