5 ways the UK election will affect trading

Ten days to go before British voters choose the next UK government but the outcome is far from certain and markets are increasingly nervous. Owen Thomas has been gathering the thoughts of analysts covering FX, equities and investment strategy.

With opinion polls consistently too close to call the prospect of another coalition government is highly likely with all the drawn out negotiations an agreement between parties would entail. That alone doesn't impress the financial markets but also add in the prospect of an EU referendum in the event of a Conservative led coalition being returned. A 'Brexit' or even just the thought of the UK leaving the EU sends shivers through much of the City of London which handles a large chunk of the world's banking and FX.
