December Fed rate hike: The winners and losers in equities

With markets now widely expecting a Fed rate hike in December, Saxo Bank's Head of Equity Strategy Peter Garnry looks at who will be the winners and losers in global equity markets, once the Fed finally makes its move. It's worth noting that stocks rallied after the recent FOMC minutes with a positive tone from the policy makers helping to boost sentiment.

Financials is one sector expected to benefit from a rate rise, but much depends on the speed and smooth path of a rate rise trajectory looking into 2016. A sudden and sharp move could cause "carnage" in fixed income markets for example.

Finally Peter outlines his trading strategy and explains why he has his focus on Japanese and European stocks ahead of a US rate rise.
