Why the numbers don't add up
US economic survey data says one thing, the reality is quite another. How does Steen Jakobsen explain the paradox? Saxo Bank's Chief Investment Officer is clear: the sampling is flawed. He says, if you ask people if they want to be a millionaire, they'll say yes! When questioned, it's human nature for respondents to declare what they hope for rather than state the reality of their present circumstances.
At some point these two will converge. Steen believes the somewhat inflexible survey data, notably in the US, gives the wrong impression. That leads to disappointment when reality hits.
