What's hot! Switching from bonds to stocks

If you are feeling a little short of trading ideas this summer, fret not, Bill Blain from Mint Partners has plenty of thoughts on what’s hot and what’s not.

Bill’s key tip is to start looking for gains in the stock market, rather than in the bond market. He specifically suggests looking at Japan, as some car and power companies there could provide good results. He also says that Japanese banks are in a "very strong position".

In terms of what to stay clear of, Bill raises caution about the finance sector in general - besides the Japanese banks - as it is not the safest area at the beginning of a recovery. He also suggests that a slowdown in China is “clearly adverse for mining stocks”.
