US investors are buying European equities at a faster rate than at any other time since 1977. Tn total they pumped 65 billion dollars into them in the first half of the year.
Michael Ingram from BGC partners says signs the eurozone crisis has stabilised has restored US investor confidence in European companies.
This year the FTSE has risen 12 percent, Cac up 13 percent and Dax up 11 percent. which isn't a bad return until you compare it to the US indices. The S&P has gained 18 percent, and it's forecast to rise a further 10 percent by the end of the year. But Michael says the fact that European stocks remain cheap is encouraging more funds to put their money into them, especially when you consider the cyclical exposure you get by investing in european equities and it would be too big a risk to ignore it.
