Trade idea: Grow within Chinese Education sector
Beijing-based trader Fredrik Oqvist, Founder of ChinaRAI, is looking to focus on the Chinese education sector. He says it's an area which will continue to grow despite a potential slowdown, and he's particularly interested in New Oriental Edu (NYSE:EDU), TAL Education (NYSE:XRS) and Xueda Education (NYSE: XUE).
Fredrik thinks that Chinese parents will continue to spend on education; and the proof is in the sales numbers; New Oriental is up 13%, TAL 40% and Xueda 70% year to date, and he believes this momentum will continue.
Last week, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, said the government will continue to invest in long-term education, science and technology objectives to stabilise the slowing economy.
China, which is transforming its economic growth model from an export and investment-driven model to one based on domestic consumption, has experienced a growth slowdown in recent months.
