"Original and still cheeky" - that's how BMW calls its new mini model. The launch of the three-door hatchback took place at the Mini's production plant in Cowley, Oxford, on what would have been the 107th birthday of Sir Alec Issigonis, creator of the original Mini.
Mini claims that the car’s increased dimensions make it much more practical, and prices will start at about GBP 13,500 pounds.
BMW now plans to invest GBP 750 million at its three British plants in the coming years.
But Saxo Bank's Peter Garnry says that while BMW is "doing ok", it’s not his top pick within the auto industry.
In fact, he is "quiet neutral" on BMW, and would instead recommend investors buy Ford, as it has much bigger upside in terms of valuation and has "great" exposure to China.
Production of the new Mini will start later this week and it will go on sale in Britain early next year.
