You'd expect Apple and Facebook to be among the top traded stocks on the Saxo platform in 2013. But why might Banco Espirito Santo and Vestas Wind Systems be up there too? Saxo Bank's Head of Equity Strategy has been looking at the numbers.
Of Apple, Peter says the stock's very liquid and it's often driven by news events which can offer opportunities to traders.
As for the Portuguese stocks, Peter says Saxo Bank has a considerable client base in Portugal, but it's not the whole story. The country is improving and this is a stock that's more than doubled in value in little over a year.
Vestas is a Danish company and is a strong one for retail investors. He says the stock can be highly volatile and those swings make it compelling for traders.
