Neighbour: Why 2014 could be "difficult" for investors

Joe Neighbour from Central Markets believes that 2014 will be a difficult year for investors in the equity markets. Although, there has been tremendous growth in equities over the past two years there are some important pending government policies that will significantly impact the market.

The biggest potential threat to the ever-rising growth in equities will occur when the Federal Reserve begins to withdraw its stimulus package in 2014. This shift could cause equities to drop between 5-15% according to Neighbour. The Federal Reserve announced in December it would start "tapering" in January.

Neighbour expects to remain bullish though, until sometime around the midyear when the government’s actions may begin to take affect.
