Hansen: Why gold's just got interesting

Gold has continued its new year rally after its biggest annual loss in decades. Raised global demand expectations are helping prices. Saxo's Ole Hansen says the metal's on track for its best weekly performance since October. Bond yields have stabilised and speculative short positions are being squeezed.
Energy has little to cheer about in this first week of the year. Both WTI and Brent Crude oil ran into heavy selling once those holding long positions had booked their profit on December 31st. Ole says global growth may be rising but supply is expected to keep up with demand and he's looking for the oil price to settle into a new lower range
