Did the Fed announce tapering too soon?

After last week's dismal US jobs report, did the US Federal Reserve announce it was to start tapering its bond buying programme too soon? Saxo Bank's Head of Macro Strategy, Mads Koefoed, thinks not. He believes December's non farm payroll figure was something of an anomaly.

Only 74,000 jobs were created in the States in December, according to the latest figures. That was about two thirds less than expected. However, Mads says we've seen a jobs' growth trend of about 200,000, more or less, for many months and that should continue. He also says the US economy is in much better health than we've seen for many years. That's primarily due to the US consumer keeping their money from the hands of the tax authorities and a recovery in the housing market's that's on-going.
