What's moving after the US housing surprise

US equities, notably those related to the housing market, are surging after housing starts in the States rose to their highest level in eight months. Separate data showed that inflation in America is comfortably contained.

Home Depot (NYSE:HD) was up around 4% on the news. Home builders Lennar Corporation (NYSE:LEN) and DR Horton (NYSE: DHI) were leading the charge as the S&P 500 reached new highs. Home construction 'starts' rose by more than 15% in July to more than a million units (annualised). This beat expectations.
EURUSD broke a big support zone around 1.3330 / 40 following the better than expected data. We're expecting some barriers at 1.3300.
